The Benefits of Using eBooks Children

Recently, I was called upon to explain to young parents the benefits that their kids could derive from reading ebooks!

I understood that this was something that they wanted me to do because I was a children’s book writer. Also, my books usually come out in both paper format and e-book format. The organizers, the neighborhood school also gave me a brush up saying that a lot of parents are keen on knowing if e-books are beneficial at all!

I was so looking forward to this presentation:

Naturally, because receptive audiences give me a high. Also, there was a group of people who wanted my opinion on something that was rudimentary for them to know for their roles as a parent. I was doubly assured that whatever I would say was going to make a big impact on theirs and their children’s lives.

So, are e-books better?

It is never a question of the traditional book versus the ebook because reading in any form is reading. We conducted a small experiment with twenty boys and the same number of girls who did not read out of interest but because they were forced to. The age groups were from five years to ten years.

We deduced:

  1. E-books can draw their attention:

EBooks were more attractive because they were on a device. Not exactly because they look cool but considering the fact that younger children love their screen time, it was a hit.

  1. E-books retain attention for longer:

Most of the children completed the book in the electronic format when compared to the traditional printed book. The devices keep their concentration engaged for a longer time.

  1. The visual aids are complementing:

The pictures and the animation was a big draw.

  1. They are engaging:

A lot of the eBooks have lesser words per page. Some have drawings and the best thing about them is that the font can be changed and also the background!

  1. Very helpful for children with special needs:

Children with special needs like dyslexia are the ones who had the least problem reading from the e format. Interested in checking out some for your ward? Check them out on https://www.starwalkkids.com/
